Pencil Brush Photoshop. Photoshop Tree Brushes. Hair Brush Photoshop. Kawaii Faces Set Add a nice looking faces to your art to add that adorable look. Use black and white for the colors. Next, change the Blending to Color Dodge. With the Eraser Tool E , delete nearly the entire layer; leave only the areas where the orange light is visible.
Use 2 for the Amount. Use 25 for the Radius. Then, with the Eraser Tool E , delete the dark parts of the layer. The blur of this layer will create a nice glow, but it must be subtle; therefore, delete most of the layer, leaving only the areas that are close to the face and the fire. By using a few stock photos and playing with the blending modes, we created a very nice fire effect. The purpose of this tutorial was to demonstrate that you can do nearly anything in Pixelmator.

Torch Man in Pixelmator. I created this effect a few months ago in Photoshop for a tutorial for Digital Arts Magazine , and I have decided to try it in Pixelmator. We will play with the Brush Engine, colors and Blendings. Open the new Pixelmator 1. I used an old image I had and I really don't know where I found it. If you know please let me know and I will credit the author.
Now it's the coolest feature in this new version of Pixelmator, the Brush Engine. Then select the brush I selected in the image below. Just double click to edit it. You will have pretty much the same settings as in Photoshop. Use the image below for reference. With this brush we will create all the smoke and fire effects. Create a new layer, select black for the color and pick the Brush Tool b.
Start painting the first fireball, to do that go pressing the button and not holding the button, that way you can change a bit the direction and it will produce a less uniform effect. Also use the "[" and "]" to resize the brush. So you can make it bigger and smaller just to create a more realistic effect. Add another layer on top of the fireball layer and select grey for the color. Paint a smoke over the end of the fireball, exactly like the image below.
Now create another layer and select orange for the color. Change the Blending of this layer to Multiply and paint over the fireball and grey smoke.
Let's add another layer, keep the orange for the color and paint over the other smokes again. This time however, change the Blending of the layer to Color Dodge. Pixelmator Pro supports ABR Photoshop brushes and you can find lots of those for free online so that would be a great place to start.
We'll keep the idea for creating our own brushes in mind, though!
